There has been a lot of talk in national and local press recently about the big rise in claims against local authorities by drivers suffering major damage due to potholes. Some roads in my ward are starting to resemble a battlefield of shell-craters, and may provide fertile ground for future claims. Please provide an update on BHCC’s pothole-filling programme, with specific reference to how much of the budget we have spent to date, what additional central government funding may be forthcoming, and what budgetary headroom we have to accelerate our programme of pothole repairs.
